Western Shizuoka Prefecture (Enshu area) is known as one of the three major cotton textile production areas in Japan.
Cotton textile production spread during the Edo period (1603-1867) as the area was a cotton-producing region, and eventually the textile industry developed as a local industry with the invention of weaving machines and research into dyeing techniques. At Hiratoyo Orimono, we focus on traditional yukata obi (Hotel kimono belt) in a region where the textile industry is thriving, from fabric planning to manufacturing and sales. Fabrics with high durability and rich textures have been the hallmark of our products, but now we strive to use a wide variety of materials and colors, and to design products that are not only patterned, but also feel comfortable to the touch.
We value tradition and originality, and are committed to creating products in line with the times that add richness to people’s lives.
